Friends of Shared Reading

Become part of a movement that is transforming lives through the power of great stories and poetry.

Outdoor Reading

We are a not-for-profit organisation that, since 2014, has been providing safe spaces for people to enjoy the multitude of benefits that reading literature can provide (especially if they are not strong readers).

Our programs focus on the joy of reading so our groups are full of fun, good conversation, discovery and rediscovery.  Our readings bring stories alive in the room and elicit profound responses from participants of all ages and abilities. Our process creates authentic engagement and fosters inclusive, welcoming environments where deep connections can emerge.

Our work is the perfect antidote to the isolation and anxiety that people are feeling right now. But, as a small not-for-profit, our resources only stretch so far.

By donating and joining the Friends of Shared Reading, you can help us run more groups and make a positive difference in the lives of more and more people.

Your Impact

By becoming a member of The Shared Reading Company you are supporting the creation of more transformational reading groups across Australia. Our groups have been proven to:

  • increase wellbeing and mental health

  • reduce loneliness and social isolation

  • give participants meaningful ways to participate in their community

Every time we sign a new member, we can provide more reading groups.  Your membership is directly supporting a program that is giving people something to look forward to, a sense that they are not alone, and an opportunity to create meaning from some of the difficult things we experience in life.
